Description

This is a highly collectable set by Hunter Laing - ‘The Kinship’ - is a range of six bottlings of exceptionally rare Islay whiskies, which were sold at their new shop on Islay during and after the Feis Ile whisky festival in 2017. This set comes with booklet.

The six single cask Islay whiskies in the Kinship collection have a combined age of 181 years and were hand-picked by iconic whisky distiller Jim McEwan. The legendary master distiller appointed Production Director of Hunter Laing’s Ardnahoe Distillery, which became the ninth whisky distillery on Islay when it opened in early 2018.

The cask-strength whiskies are among the rarest casks Hunter Laing has ever released. The range comprises of 6 x 70cl bottlings:

  • Edition 1: 28-year-old sherry cask Bunnahabhain - 56.2% - one of 214 bottles.
  • Edition 2: 30-year old sherry cask Bowmore - 56.1% - one of 507 bottles.
  • Edition 3: 33-year-old sherry cask Caol Ila - 52.6% - One of 482 bottles.
  • Edition 4: 30-year-old Bourbon Hogshead Laphroaig - 53.6% - One of 365 bottles.
  • Edition5: 26-year-old Bourbon Hogshead Ardbeg - 49.7% - One of 209 bottles.
  • Edition 6: 34-year-old American Oak Port Ellen - 61.6%-  One of 545 bottles.

As each whisky is bottled from a single cask, they are available in limited quantities with, for example, fewer than 210 bottles of the Ardbeg in existence. Each bottle comes presented in an individual jute bag.

The whole collection has been signed.

Prior to any bid being placed on a lot, close up visual inspection is to be carried out. If you are unsure in any way about the condition of the said lot, click “ask a question” above. The bidder understands that once you have bid, you are stating you understand this and that the checks stated above have been carried out and you are happy with the lot's condition.

TGWA may try to highlight conditions of interest of lots being sold in the auction. The majority of the items being sold are of second-hand nature and TGWA cannot be held responsible for any conditions that may not have been specified when listing the lots on the site. Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.

Should there be a discrepancy between the photo and the lot title/description, the photograph holds the precedent. No claim can be lodged against a misdescribed item as all lots are sold as seen.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, the condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Loss and breakage cover is available at 3% of the hammer price as standard.
