Description

This lot contains 1 x 70cl & 4 x 5cl -

Located in Thurso, this is the Northernmost distillery on the UK mainland. Named after a long lost distillery that ended around 1850, this new Wolfburn opened in 2013.

  • Silent Night 2020: Holding the title as the most Northern distillery in the UK (until recently), this distillery is on the North Coast 500 in Thurso. If you have not been already, you really should make the effort. They are forward-thinking and couldn't possibly be more friendly! The first distillation from this distillery took place in Jan 2013 only 350m away from the previous site. This is the 2020 release from the Wolfburn distillery titled "Silent Night:

This is a tasting selection of 4 x 5cl Wolfburn award-winning whiskies:

  • Morven: 5cl / 46% ABV:  This lightly peated whisky is made from malted barley infused with smoke during the drying process. It’s a reflection of history – the original 19th Century distillery was largely fired by peat. Gentle distillation is followed by maturation in our purpose-built warehouses. The result is a beautifully smooth and rounded whisky.
  • Northland: 5cl / 46% ABV: The smooth and warming flavours present in Northland come from the unhurried way in which the spirit is made, and from the maturation, which takes place in American oak quarter casks. Matured and bottled oat Wolfburn,  Northland represents the first chapter in the history of Wolfburn.
  • Aurora: 5cl / 46% ABV: A beautiful sherried whisky is made from spirit laid down in a combination of bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Benefitting from long fermentation and slow, gentle distillation, the spirit is laid down on-site in our purpose-built warehouses. At the end of the maturation process, the casks are brought together to create an exceptionally smooth and perfectly balanced dram.
  • Langskip: 5cl, 46%: ABV A sweet, balanced and beautifully easy-drinking dram, Langskip’s strength is matched only by its smoothness. Matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks, this whisky has a unique richness and an extraordinary depth of flavour. Bottled at 58% alcohol by volume, Langskip represents the very best of Wolfburn.
