Description

Annabel Thomas and her family conceived the idea in 2012 for an all natural way of producing Scotch Whisky and change the way the world the Scotch Whisky Industry. Thus, Nc’nean was born and the very next year Annabel left London and her job behind to start her dream. This inspirational story gets even better with her rounds of fundraising achieving backing to the tune of £7,500,000 and the distillery build beginning in 2014. The design of the building was by a gentleman who is sadly no longer with us, Dr Jim Swan who also over saw the first spirit run in March 2017.

Pronounced nc-nee-an, this is a shortened version of a Gaelic folk legend, Queen of the Spirits, Neachneohain.

This is their inaugural release and 2020 will see all 1320 bottles of single malt whisky reach their thirsty & excited fans! A five cask vatting was chosen for this release and have been chosen by Gordon Wood, the distillery manager, Annabel and her dedicated team. It was bottled at cask strength 60.3% and the vessel of choice has been fully recycled.

The casks were as follows -

Ex-bourbon casks #128 and #130, and shaved, toasted and re-charred wine barriques #66, #92 and #120.

A truly great vision and a remarkable journey to this point from Annabel.
