Description

The majority of Valinch bottlings are all 50cl and all single casks that are available from the distillery. If you know and have been to the magical island you too can take part in the hand-filling process. The term Valinch is a piece of old whisky terminology that comes from the Spanish & French. It is the word for a pipette that takes the samples from a cask. These bottlings were introduced to the public after the distillery was purchased in 2001 by Murray McDavid.

Released for Feis 2007, this single malt was distilled in 1990. This bottling is named after a "phantom" oil tanker at the pier near Bruichladdich. The story goes such that the ship couldn't dock due to it's a flawed design. As you can imagine it has been a legend ever since.

The cask was a Bourbon Squat #525. Only 350 bottles were produced.

Prior to any bid being placed on a lot, close up visual inspection is to be carried out. If you are unsure in any way about the condition of the said lot, click “ask a question” above. More in-depth descriptions and additional photos can be taken upon request. Otherwise, lots are sold as seen in the pictures. The bidder understands that once you have bid, you are stating you understand this and that the checks stated above have been carried out and you are happy with the lot's condition.

TGWA may try to highlight conditions of interest of lots being sold in the auction. The majority of the items being sold are of second-hand nature and TGWA cannot be held responsible for any conditions that may not have been specified when listing the lots on the site. Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.

Should there be a discrepancy between the photo and the lot title/description, the photograph holds the precedent. No claim can be lodged against a misdescribed item as all lots are sold as seen.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, the condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Loss and breakage cover is available at 3% of the hammer price as standard. If the lot is not insured, no claim can be lodged against the courier or The Grand Whisky Auction for breakage or loss in transit.
