Description

The distillery originates back to 1839 and was founded by entrepreneur Alexander Matheson. He eventually old the distillery toAndrew and Charles Mackenzie after they came forward looking to purchase. They introduced the iconic 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem, the caberfeidh which has adorned every bottle of The Dalmore.

Dalmore is now one of the most prestige single malts in the market and is owned by Whyte & Mackay. At the time, Whyte & Mackay predominantly dealt in blended whiskies and made a move to purchase the already successful Dalmore from the Mackenzie family in 1960.

At the time of purchase, W&M required large bulk volumes to meet the market demand for their blends. This in turn meant Dalmore never really released an older expression that a 12 year old.

How things have changed…

Dalmore now stands on its own and is most certainly considered one of the most luxury brands in the single malt whisky market with global recognition.

This is the 2018 release of The Dalmore 45 year old and within this Baccarat crystal decanter, it contains some of the distillery’s finest aged stocks.

Of course, it was selected by none other than master distiller Richard Paterson. It was initially matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks and then transferred to two different Graham’s Port Colheita pipes. These casks dated from 1961 and 1963. Finally, the liquid was then married together in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks.
