Description

Lochlea Distillery has mostly been operating under the radar since it was founded in 2018, but soon their Scotch single malt whisky is now launched.

Based in the Lowlands, the single malt of Lochlea Distillery is produced under the watchful eye of distillery manager Malcolm Rennie (now succeeded by John Campbell). He has 34 years of experience in the industry and has previously worked at Ardbeg, Bruichladdich and Kilchoman.

Each one of these will show Lochlea Single Malt in a different light, reflecting exactly what is happening on the farm with the changing seasons.

This lot includes the following 70cl bottlings:

  • Lochlea - First Crop - Sowing Edition: This is the first release in an annual seasonal series, reflecting spring when the seeds are being sown in preparation for the upcoming harvest. Matured in fresh 1st fill Bourbon barrels, bottled at 48% ABV.
  • Lochlea - First Crop - Harvest Edition: This is the second release in the annual series of seasonal releases, inspired by the end of summer when the crops are ready to harvest. Matured in a combination of Port, Sherry and Bourbon casks, bottled at 46% ABV.
  • Lochlea - First Crop - Fallow Edition: The third of the seasonal releases, an Autumnal bottling inspired by when the fields are left fallow after a busy harvest. Matured in 1st fill Oloroso Sherry casks, bottled at 46% ABV.
  • Lochlea - First Crop - Ploughing Edition: This is the fourth and final seasonal release in this series, inspired by the winter months. Matured in ex-Islay barrels and peated quarter casks, bottled at 46% ABV.

Prior to any bid being placed on a lot, close up visual inspection is to be carried out. If you are unsure in any way about the condition of the said lot, click “ask a question” above. More in-depth descriptions and additional photos can be taken upon request. Otherwise, lots are sold as seen in the pictures. The bidder understands that once you have bid, you are stating you understand this and that the checks stated above have been carried out and you are happy with the lot's condition.

TGWA may try to highlight conditions of interest of lots being sold in the auction. The majority of the items being sold are of second-hand nature and TGWA cannot be held responsible for any conditions that may not have been specified when listing the lots on the site. Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.

Should there be a discrepancy between the photo and the lot title/description, the photograph holds the precedent. No claim can be lodged against a misdescribed item as all lots are sold as seen.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, the condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Loss and breakage cover is available at 3% of the hammer price as standard. If the lot is not insured, no claim can be lodged against the courier or The Grand Whisky Auction for breakage or loss in transit.
