Description

Something wicked this way comes...

Introducing an ongoing series inspired by William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Macbeth. This is a multi-year collaboration between mastermind Lexi Burgess, writer Dave Broom whisky makers Sukhinder Singh and Oliver Chilton as well as artist Sir Quentin Blake. This has all come to life through Livingstone Rare in partnership with Elixir Distillers.

Each limited edition whisky in the series will portray one of the Scottish play's immortal characters. The full cast of lead characters, thanes, witches, ghosts and Macbeth's household have been reimagined as birds, an idea of the great illustrator Sir Quentin Blake.

There are 42 whiskies in six series within the Macbeth Collection each character group paired with an appropriate whisky; The Leads with regal malts, The Thanes with noble malts, The Ghosts with ghost distillery whiskies, The Witches with Smoky Whiskies, The Murderers with Island Malts and The Household with Characterful Whiskies.

The Thanes

A thane is a nobleman who owns segments of land in exchange for service to the king. The first of 12 noble thanes in the series are Angus and Menteith, who march to confront Macbeth in the play’s final act. The third thane in the act one release is the tragically fated Lady Macduff. Twelve noble malts have been chosen to portray The Thanes in the Macbeth series.

The Lady Macduff release was distilled at the Linkwood Distillery, this was aged for 31 years and matured in a Bourbon Barrel before being bottled at 48.2%. This is one of only 650 bottles released.
