Description

The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 in Craigellachie, Moray. Famous for their use of ex-Sherry casks, Macallan has become one of the world`s most sought-after single malts in recent years.

These are the original exceptional cask bottlings, released in the late 1990s and 2000s. These were all bottled at cask strength "to pour further" from various sherry butts, typical for The Macallan.

This lot includes the following 50cl bottlings:

  • Macallan - 1981 Exceptional Cask #9780: This is the first release in the Exceptional Cask Series. Filled in December 1981, this single malt was matured in a Fino sherry butt before being bottled in December 1999 at 56% ABV.
  • Macallan - 1980 Exceptional Cask #4063: The second release to the Exceptional Cask Series, this single malt was matured in an oloroso sherry butt #4063 before being bottled in December 2001 at 59.3% ABV.
  • Macallan - 1980 Exceptional Cask #17937: Another release in the Exceptional Cask Series, this dram was matured in a sherry butt before being bottled in May 2002 at a strength of 51% ABV.
  • Macallan - 1990 Exceptional Cask #24680: Matured in sherry butt #24680, this single malt was nosed in December 2002 before being bottled in January 2003 at 57.4% ABV.
  • Macallan - 1989 Exceptional Cask #552: This dram was distilled in 1989 and matured in Oloroso butt #552 before being bottled in November 2003 at 59.2% ABV.
  • Macallan - 1990 Exceptional Cask #24483: This is the final release in the Exceptional Cask Series, distilled in 1990 and matured in a sherry but, this was bottled in November 2004 at a strength of 59.6% ABV.

Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.
