Description

Bladnoch began when John and Thomas McClelland took out a license to make whisky on their farm in the southwest of Scotland in 1817. Managing to stay in the family until 1905, the distillery was closed due to over-supply. The distillery was bought by Arther Bell & Sons in 1983 just before Guinness acquired them, which brought Bladnoch a visitors centre at the distillery in 1988. Bladnoch’s saviours in history came from Northern Ireland, this was thought to be due to being close to the sea crossing between Stranraer and Larne. Later in the new century, the distillery underwent some renovations under the direction of Master Distiller, Ian MacMillan. Production resumed in 2017 and the 203rd anniversary of the distillery was celebrated.
