Description

Aberfeldy Distillery was founded in 1896 by the sons of John Dewar. Originally starting out as a successful brand of blended whisky, Dewar’s decided to build their own distillery to produce single malt to use in their blend.

Located on the outskirts of the village of Aberfeldy in the Highlands, they have their natural water source from the Pitilie Burn which flows past the River Tay - this, without a doubt, plays a large part in the placement of the distillery. Production began in 1898 and just under a century later the distillery underwent an expansion to meet the needs of the increasing demand for whisky.

This award-winning malt was pretty much removed from everyone's thoughts, this was until Bacardi bought it over, and a permanent range of whiskies was introduced. Today, Aberfeldy has a highly rated visitor centre, the old maltings buildings were transfigured into Dewar’s World of Whisky which opened in 2000 and attracted over thirty thousand visitors a year.

This is a lovely 18-year-old bottling from the Aberfeldy Distillery.  This 18-year-old is a limited-release finished in Tuscan Red Wine Casks from Bolgheri.
