Description

Glengoyne Distillery has been in continuous operation since its founding in 1833 at Dumgoyne, Scotland. In 1869 Cochrane Cartwright became the Distillery Manager of the Glenguin of Burnfoot. After Cochrane Cartwright drowned in the Distillery Loch in 1899, William McGeachie succeeded him and later changed the distillery name from Glenguin of Burnfoot to Glengoyne.

At Glengoyne their barley is only ever dried by air, their stills are the slowest in Scotland and their casks take six years to prepare. This all contributes to a great single-malt whisky.

This single cask was distilled in 2007 and matured in a single American oak sherry cask for 12 years before being bottled in 2023 for Scottish Merchant's Choice.

This is one of only 207 bottles which were produced at a strength of 54.9% ABV.

Prior to any bid being placed on a lot, close up visual inspection is to be carried out. If you are unsure in any way about the condition of the said lot, click “ask a question” above. More in-depth descriptions and additional photos can be taken upon request. Otherwise, lots are sold as seen in the pictures. The bidder understands that once you have bid, you are stating you understand this and that the checks stated above have been carried out and you are happy with the lot's condition.

TGWA may try to highlight conditions of interest of lots being sold in the auction. The majority of the items being sold are of second-hand nature and TGWA cannot be held responsible for any conditions that may not have been specified when listing the lots on the site. Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.

Should there be a discrepancy between the photo and the lot title/description, the photograph holds the precedent. No claim can be lodged against a misdescribed item as all lots are sold as seen.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, the condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Loss and breakage cover is available at 3% of the hammer price as standard. If the lot is not insured, no claim can be lodged against the courier or The Grand Whisky Auction for breakage or loss in transit.
