Description

Buffalo Trace Distillery was founded in 1775, the distillery was built just before Kentucky became the 15th state in the Union. In 1870, Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr purchased the distillery and christened it the O.F.C. Distillery, due to the old-fashioned wood-fired copper stills and invested over $70,000 as he built a new distillery on the site. Shortly after, the O.F.C. Distillery was purchased by George T. Stagg and Taylor continued to oversee daily operations. Albert B. Blanton joined the company in 1897 as an office boy at age 16 and was appointed as Still House, Warehouse and Bottling Superintendent just 3 years later.

The start of the new century saw the distillery being re-christened as George T. Stagg Distillery and Blanton became President. The first bottle of Blanton’s Single Barrel was released to the world in 1984 and shortly after, towards the end of the 20th Century, the distillery was rechristened as Buffalo Trace Distillery.

This straight bourbon whiskey was distilled and put into 6 barrels in November 2012. It's a Rye Bourbon made with peated malt and it's a sweet mash. The barrel was charred white oak, made by the Independent Stave Co, which it lay in for 9 years and 5 months.

Bottled in April 2022, this bourbon was released as part of Buffalo Trace's Experimental Collection at a strength of 45% ABV and 90 Proof.
