Description

Lagavulin is said to be one of the oldest distilleries on Islay and is world-renowned for its smoky, peaty whiskies. It is situated on Islay's south coast where legal distilling started in 1816 by John Johnson. The distillery was then moved into the hands of the Mackie's who launched White Horse into export markets. White Horse Distillers became part of DCL in 1927 just shortly before the Distillery was closed in 1942 for the remainder of WWII. Later, Lagavulin 16 joined the Classic Malts portfolio in 1989 and ever since has been a great success.

This is a very special bottle of Lagavulin, Iain McArthur's Farewell Dram. Lagavulin is celebrating 53 years of the legendary Iain McArthur, 'Pinky' as he is called among friends.

For Iain's retirement, McArthur Edition has been released to mark his astonishing achievement of service to the Lagavulin Distillery. This bottling is a dedication and thanks to 53 years of hard work and great tales of the olden days told with true Islay wit.

It is a hand-filled and labelled bottling which features an illustration of Iain, a dedication and thanks to 53 years of hard work and great tales of the olden days told with true Islay wit. This bottling has been masterfully pieced together in the warehouse in which Iain himself spent most of his days.

Iain's Farewell Dram is an 18-year-old single malt which has smouldering wood embers, ripe orchard fruits and an aromatic spiciness.

It was bottled on the 13th of December 2023 and is one of a limited 212 bottles produced at a strength of 58.7% ABV.
