Description
Glen Scotia Distillery is one of only three distilleries left in Campbeltown, the smallest whisky region in Scotland. Formerly known as 'Scotia' when it was first founded in 1832 by Steward & Galbraith and Company, the distillery ran for almost 60 years before being purchased in 1891 by industrialist Duncan MacCallum. Duncan constructed the Malting Floors which run along the High Street. Today, the distillery very much remains with much of its original design, including the mash tun, still room and dunnage warehouse, dating back to the 1830s.
This Glen Scotia single malt was distilled in 1973 and matured quietly in the distillery's dunnage warehouse until being bottled in December 1996 at a strength of 40% ABV.
