Celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2024, Macallan is among the most iconic distilleries in the world and has produced some of the most sought-after whiskies for collectors. Its rich character and long-standing relationship with Spain's sherry producers have helped build a reputation for exceptional malt whiskies, both in its core expressions and rarest releases.
Located on an estate in the Scottish Highlands on the banks of the River Spey, The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid. It was one of the first Scottish distilleries to be legally licensed. Using water from springs beneath its estate, The Macallan makes single malt whiskies using the smallest commercial stills in Speyside. Their unique size and shape give the spirit maximum contact with the copper, helping to concentrate the new-make spirit with rich, fruity, full-bodied flavours.
This limited-edition bottled whisky cocktail was designed by the talented Scarfes Bar mixologists to mark The Macallan's 200th Anniversary. Bottled on the 30th of April 2024, it combines The Macallan Double Cask 12-Year-Old Whisky with apricot, evaporated pistachio and Amontillado. The bottle features a Gerald Scarfe illustration; this Doctor Who homage is a knowing wink to our friends at The Macallan's journey through time - with eyes set firmly on the future.
