Description

Established in 1995 by Harrold Currie, a former Chivas Brothers managing director, the Isle of Arran Distillery is located in the north of Arran at Lochranza. Production began in 1995 and by 1998 they had released their first whisky, a 3-year-old. For the first several years, the distillery was recognised for its vast number of young whiskies. Towards the end of 2017, with Arran thriving, an additional two stills were installed at the Lochranza site and construction began for a second distillery. Arran’s sister distillery, Lagg, began production in early 2019 and is situated on the south side of the Isle of Arran. Lagg takes control of the peated element for the whiskies, working in harmony with its sister distillery.

One of only 1000 bottles produced this is the 2018 release for the Malt and Music Festival on Arran. It is so great to see distilling happening on the island again after there was virtually no activity in the 19th and 20th centuries. The revived distillery was opened in 1995 and bottled its first single malt in 1998.

This expression was aged in three different casks:

Prior to any bid being placed on a lot, close up visual inspection is to be carried out. If you are unsure in any way about the condition of the said lot, click “ask a question” above. More in-depth descriptions and additional photos can be taken upon request. Otherwise, lots are sold as seen in the pictures. The bidder understands that once you have bid, you are stating you understand this and that the checks stated above have been carried out and you are happy with the lot's condition.

TGWA may try to highlight conditions of interest of lots being sold in the auction. The majority of the items being sold are of second-hand nature and TGWA cannot be held responsible for any conditions that may not have been specified when listing the lots on the site. Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.

Should there be a discrepancy between the photo and the lot title/description, the photograph holds the precedent. No claim can be lodged against a misdescribed item as all lots are sold as seen.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, the condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Loss and breakage cover is available at 3% of the hammer price as standard. If the lot is not insured, no claim can be lodged against the courier or The Grand Whisky Auction for breakage or loss in transit.
