Description

In 1879 James Fleming rebuilt the Aberlour Distillery further along the Spey River from the first Aberlour Distillery which had been previously destroyed due to a fire. Just shortly after, the distillery was sold to Robert Thorne & Sons and like many distilleries in the Victorian period, it was burnt down and had to be rebuilt once again in 1898. Aberlour Distillery underwent an expansion in 1973 from two to four stills, this being the year before the French group Pernod Ricard acquired the distillery alongside Campbell Distilleries. Now internally modernised, Aberlour Distillery became part of Pernod’s whisky division, Chivas Brothers, in 2001 being one of the first distilleries to make bottling your whisky available to visitors. Today, These single malts are expertly crafted and made using high-quality local ingredients of barley and soft water from the close the mountain, Ben Rinnes.

Distilled at the Aberlour Distillery in 1989 this single malt was aged for 26 years in Bourbon Oak Cask #11040 before being bottled in 2015 for Mike Colquhoun as part of the Cooper's Gold range. Only 274 bottles were produced at 51.1% ABV.
