Description

Tobermory has been operating as the Isle of Mull's only distillery since 1798, founded by local kelp merchant John Sinclair. After over 100 years of operating on the island, the distillery fell silent and closed its doors for 41 long years due to the Great Depression. Following a tumultuous period of various owners, Tobermory Distillery was bought by Burn Stewart Distillers in 1993. In 2013 Distell purchased the distillery just before a much-needed period of maintenance and renovation took place. The distillery reopened once again in 2019 and today, under the Tobermory Distillery name, Tobermory and Ledaig Single Malts are produced, as well as Tobermory Gin.

This is the Burn Stewart era Tobermory single malt from the Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, aged for 10 years in Virgin Oak Casks.

Prior to any bid being placed on a lot, close up visual inspection is to be carried out. If you are unsure in any way about the condition of the said lot, click “ask a question” above. More in-depth descriptions and additional photos can be taken upon request. Otherwise, lots are sold as seen in the pictures. The bidder understands that once you have bid, you are stating you understand this and that the checks stated above have been carried out and you are happy with the lot's condition.

TGWA may try to highlight conditions of interest of lots being sold in the auction. The majority of the items being sold are of second-hand nature and TGWA cannot be held responsible for any conditions that may not have been specified when listing the lots on the site. Thus, the bidder fully understands, prior to confirming a bid they are happy with the condition of the lot, whether it has conditions noted or otherwise.

Should there be a discrepancy between the photo and the lot title/description, the photograph holds the precedent. No claim can be lodged against a misdescribed item as all lots are sold as seen.

Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, the condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit. Loss and breakage cover is available at 3% of the hammer price as standard. If the lot is not insured, no claim can be lodged against the courier or The Grand Whisky Auction for breakage or loss in transit.
